Use this Check-list to guide you through your 12th grade College Application Process.

 

Fall Semester

  1. [ ] Visit the College Center in room T104 to meet your College Counselor.
  2. [ ] Request transcript, check your credits, GPA, A-G status, and College Eligibility.
  3. [ ] Meet with your academic counselor to make sure you’re on track to graduate.
  4. [ ] Register and take the SAT no later than Dec. 1.
  5. [ ] Log on and start using your Naviance account. Naviance-Everything you need for college and career in one place. Link your Naviance and Common Application and request    transcripts.
  6. [ ] Explore College Majors and Careers using Naviance.
  7. [ ] Complete your Brag Sheet and share with teachers/counselors who will recommend you for college and scholarships.
  8. [ ] Complete CSU application by Nov. 30th (if eligible).
  9. [ ] Complete UC application by Nov. 30th (If eligible).
  10. [ ] Complete Common Application/Black Common Application.
  11. [ ] Complete FAFSA/Dream Application by December 30th. (Opens Oct. 1st)
  12. [ ] Create Portals/Account for all the colleges in which you applied. Check often.
  13. [ ] Send test scores and transcripts to all colleges in which you applied and by the deadline.
  14. [ ] Create Cal Grant Account.
  15. [ ] Apply for scholarships
  16. [ ] Check emails frequently for correspondence from colleges and student aid.
  17. [ ] PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO DEADLINES.

 

Spring Semester

  1. [ ] Complete LA Community College & LA Promise Application.
  2. [ ] Consider college options and compare financial aid packages.
  3. [ ] Make a decision on where you would like to attend college and visit.
  4. [ ] Return award letters and send Statement of Intent to Register including deposit.
  5. [ ] Request transcripts via Naviance.
  6. [ ] Submit your acceptance letters to the college counselor via email.
  7. [ ] Keep copies and confirmation number of any documents that you submit.
  8. [ ] Submit your final college selection and acceptance letter to the college counselor.
